What:  We are a non-profit organization supported wholly by sponsors and Volunteer  workers  Even our office space is donated graciously by ATT.

When:  Our office hours are quite flexible.  Generally we are open on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 10:00 to 4:00 and some Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00.  Email and phone messages are checked frequently.

Where:  Offices and book storage are located at the address shown at the top of this page.   Volunteer workers are at this address and other locations as needed.

Why: We believe everyone should have the opportunity to read.   We fill the need for the books and papers for that purpose.   No one is denied access to our books.
Cost: The  books are donated and therefore, they are free.  Donations are accepted to pay office and utility expenses.

Mrs. Joanne Harper, CEO & Board Chairman, wrote the two poems below depicting her feelings about the Heartland Book Bank and the Volunteers.

I truly love to read.

I truly love to read,

And give books away for free.

Everyone deserves to own a book,

So come on in and take a look.

Reading lets you dream of adventure,

New places to discover for sure.

Books will tell you of people and fame,

Knowledge and more will be your gain.

So read a book today come rain or shine,

And maybe you will receive a book that was mine.

Literacy is our main goal,

But to you there is no toll.

If you are an agency with needs,

We have 100,000 you can read.

Our books are new and old

Giving them away is good, I’m told.

When our service is done,

Our goal for literacy will be won.

So come on in and have a look,

But be sure you leave with our great books.

Volunteers

SBC and AT&T has the best volunteers

We always work for causes that are near & dear.

Volunteering to be a pioneer,

means sticking like veneer.

Pioneers are a special group who care for all

whether your cause is large or small.

Hug-a-bears are know far and wide

so if you need a hug be sure not to hide.

I like me books, heart pillows, heart pillows,

lap robes, cancer dressings gives us thanks.

So if you do not have anything to do

come have fun and volunteer too.
